Although the summer holidays have passed and autumn is knocking on the door, there are still plenty of things to do in Derby.

For parents who spent the last six weeks or so entertaining their children during the school holidays, there are plenty of ‘me-time’ options to get stuck into. Derby Arena have recently relaunched their group exercise class programme, which boasts a number of high-octane classes such as BodyPump and Watt bikes and more holistic classes such as yoga and pilates.

Derby Arena, Springwood and Queen’s leisure centres offer the perfect place to recharge the batteries with a workout in one of the well-equipped gyms. In fact now is also a great time to consider a joining Derby Active with the ‘Join for a Coin’ offer which is running this September.

This time of year is a great opportunity to get outdoors, soak up the late summer sun and see the leaves changing to their vibrant autumnal colours. Derby’s many parks and open spaces look stunning this time of year, the crisp, clear air coupled with the milder temperatures means they’re perfect for exploring. You could also take part in ‘GoodGym’, a running group who also do good deeds for the community as they go, they meet Tuesday at 6:15pm outside the Jury’s Inn. Whilst on the running theme, if you’re looking for a safer run over cooler months, then head to Moorways Stadium where you can utilise its floodlit running track, you can also pick up a run pass which might save you some money too.

There’s the chance of great nights out at Derby Arena with the Tina Turner tribute show ‘What’s Love Got to do With It?’ on Thursday 17 October, followed by Michael Starring Ben on Friday 18 October, a smash hit production featuring the ultimate Michael Jackson tribute star, Ben Bowman.

For those missing having as much family time, make weekends fun-filled with swimming at Queen’s Leisure Centre including the awesome Atlantis Splash Run inflatable sessions. Racket sports are a great option when the typical British weather arrives, with a range of sports available at both Derby Arena and Springwood Leisure Centre, who will be the badminton or table tennis champion?

With many having flocked to Markeaton Park over the summer holidays, the fun’s not over yet, families can make the most of what’s on offer by trying the new mini and disc golf courses, as well as the popular pirate ship and Skyline High Ropes course.

For when the darker evenings really draw in, make Derby Arena your home where you can complete the track accreditation and get your cycling fix without being exposed to the elements. If spectating is more your thing, head to Derby Arena on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October for the National Madison and Omnium for the title race.
