Councillor Martin Rawson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities and City Centre Regeneration said:

“This Girl Can is an excellent campaign to encourage women to get involved in sport. The Big Summer of Netball provides a brilliant opportunity to do just that. This is another example where Derby Arena is putting the City on the map, and providing great sporting opportunities for Derby residents.”

This Girl Can is a nationwide campaign to support women and girls being active all over the country without fear of judgement. The campaign is developed by Sport England and a wide range of partnership organisations who all want to celebrate active women boosting their confidence. The Big Summer of Netball has been supported by the governing body England Netball who have provided £1000 grant funding to help deliver the events and promote participation in netball.

This is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved, have fun and make new friends.
