Laugh your way into the New Year with comedy from Derby LIVE
Mon 15 Jan 2018
We've got a host of exciting and popular comedy acts coming to Derby Arena and the Guildhall Theatre during 2018. With a variety of shows on offer, there is something to suit every comedy enthusiast in the New Year.
Stephen K Amos will be performing on Wednesday 17 January at 8pm. Brexit. Trump. No more Mary Berry on the Great British Bake Off. Things are looking bleak so wouldn’t it be better to just forget all about it for the evening in the company of the ‘effusively charming’ Amos? Catch his show at the Guildhall Theatre. Tickets are priced at £18.75 and the show is suitable for those aged 16 years and over.
Meet your new potty-mouthed best friend; Stephen Bailey is appearing at the Guildhall Theatre performing his new stand-up show, Can’t Think Straight on Saturday 10 February at 8pm. As well as being a working-class, ginger, gay, northern comic, he is also a black belt in Tae Kwon-Do AND loves a conspiracy theory (preferably involving a celebrity and a cucumber). Tickets are available for only £13.75.
Comedy superstar John Bishop will be back on stage for his fifth UK tour, performing in his own inimitable style, bringing his brand new show ‘Winging It’ to Derby Arena on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March 2018. This latest show is his biggest, best and funniest one yet! Tickets are priced at £37. His last tour Supersonic was watched by more than 500,000 people and received huge critical acclaim. Rollercoaster in 2012 was another sell out, and followed the successes of his Sunshine tour in 2011 and the Elvis Has Left the Building show in 2010, for which he was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award.
Award-winning comedian and writer Ed Byrne is set to perform at Derby Arena on Friday 20 April 2018 as part of his latest UK stand-up tour. In his latest tour entitled, Spoiler Alert, Ed takes the question of whether as a nation we are spoiled, turns it upside down and shakes it until the funny falls out. His live work has built up legions of fans and he remains the observational stand-up to see and is not to be missed. Tickets are available now at £26.
Recently back from the Australian jungle, Shappi Khorsandhi will be performing Mistress and Misfit at the Guildhall Theatre on Friday 4 May 2018 from 8pm. In her new comedy show, Shappi presents England’s unsung heroine, Emma Hamilton. For too many years she has been known as just ‘Nelson’s mistress’, a bit of a harlot. Yes, she occasionally danced on tables naked, but who hasn’t? Shappi is inspired by Emma, although she never wants hair big enough to house mice in. Tickets are priced at £15 and concession tickets are available.
Tickets can be purchased through the Derby LIVE Box Office on 01332 255800 or on here. They can also be purchased at the Sales and Information Centre, on the Market Place, Derby, DE1 3AH.
