Half Term Activities For All the Family

This half term we have a range of fantastic activities to enjoy from, Family Track Cycling Sessions to exploring the newly refurbished craft village and play centre at Markeaton Park.

Leisure Centres

At Derby Arena we will be running Family Track Cycling Sessions where people can come down and have a go. No prior experience is necessary, qualified coaches will provide advice and the correct equipment. Sessions last one hour and are suitable for all abilities, ages 9 and over.

Sessions will take place on 11am Monday 15, 1:30pm Tuesday 16, 1pm Wednesday 17 February. Sessions cost: £18 - £38 to book call 01332 640011

Cycle Derby will also be offering track activities at Derby Arena with outdoor sessions in the morning of 19 February and on the velodrome track in the afternoon, sessions priced £25, suitable for competent cyclists ages 10 and up cyclederby@derby.gov.uk or call 01332 641747

The Bouncy Castle and soft play at Springwood Leisure Centre is the perfect way to allow young ones to have fun and let off steam, meet and play with other children, whilst parents can mingle within the session. Little ones can bounce, jump, roll and have great fun together on the bouncy castle and soft play equipment.

Parents must supervise children. No child under the age of one will be allowed on the bouncy castle.

Tuesday and Wednesday 2pm-3pm, Thursday 9:30am to 10:30am, sessions cost £2.50 and are suitable for ages crawling to 6 years, to find out more or to book call 01332 664433

For those ages 11 to 16 Springwood Leisure centre has a fantastic range of movement classes to take part in over the half term. The sessions are a great, fun way to get fit in the gym and take place every day for between 2 and 4 hours. Parks

The recently refurbished craft village originally opened in 1987 using the old stable yard at the centre of Markeaton Park. Workshops and businesses sell handmade goods and gifts, and many run activities and events. At the heart of the village is the Orangery Cafe which overlooks Markeaton Park's formal garden.

The popular Mundy Play Centre has lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy. The family-friendly play area provides plenty of free facilities, including lots of places to sit, rest and to have picnics around the centre.

Cycle Derby are running Learn to Ride sessions at Markeaton Park for those children who are getting onto two wheel for the first time or those who have tried to ride and not quite got there. Swimming

Public Swim sessions are available at different times of the day, for everyone to enjoy the water in their own swim style, on their own or with family and friends.  All children under five can enjoy swimming for free in the Public Swim sessions with a paying adult.
