Derby Sports Awards 2015 are now open

Building on the fantastic success of the 2014 Derby Sports Awards, the City will once again be promoting and celebrating our local sporting achievements. Nominations for the 2015 Derby Sports Awards opened on Tuesday 14 July, when members of the public can nominate their local sporting heroes by simply going to The awards ceremony will take place at Derby Arena in October, where the winners will be directly nominated for county wide awards.

Councillor Martin Rawson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities and City Centre Regeneration said: 

“Derby has a proud sporting heritage and I’m delighted that we will be celebrating the success of our brilliant sportspeople with the 2015 Derby Sports Awards. This year has seen the opening of the new Derby Arena, not only the venue for these awards but also the home of many sporting successes in the future.”

Nominations for the 2015 Derby Sports Awards open on July 14 and close on September 25. They will then go to the Derby City Judging Panel who will pick the winners to be announced at the awards ceremony in October. This year’s entries will be judged against the following categories:

  • Sportswoman of the Year
  • Sportsman of the Year
  • Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Manager/Coach of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Community Award
  • Club of the Year
  • Active4Life
  • Junior Team of the Year
  • Young Sportsman of the Year
  • Young Sportswoman of the Year
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Best Sporting Experience
  • Club Innovation Award
