Blue Peter at Derby Arena
Thu 4 Feb 2016
CBBC Blue Peter presenters Barney and Radzi have been training at Derby Arena ahead of their Sport Relief cycling challenge, to go head-to-head at the final round of the Revolution Track Cycling series.
The Challenge began in November 2015, when Barney and Radzi started to train for the event and get an idea of just what is in store for them. The pair were introduced to the mini omnium challenge consisting of a flying lap, match sprint and head –to-head kilo.
As part of their training after Christmas Barney and Radzi were aided by two riders who train and race at Derby Arena. Go-Ride members Josh and Tilly from Derby Mercury RC and Spalinding CC, helped the presenters with getting used to racing, riding in proximity and race tactics, that would be needed for the challenge.
The presenter’s final race took place on Saturday 23 January at the last round of the Revolution Series. The first in a series of three Blue Peter programmes covering the challenge will be aired on the CBBC channel at 5pm today.
