Aladdin flying into Derby Arena for Christmas 2015
Fri 19 Dec 2014
We're happy to announce that Derby’s biggest all-star traditional family pantomime is set to make a welcome return. It'll be flying into the city’s new iconic Derby Arena for Christmas 2015.
After taking a year off due to Assembly Room closure, following a fire in March 2014, we're excited to announce that Derby LIVE and pantomime producers Paul Holman Associates will be staging the most magical and mystical story of all – Aladdin.
Councillor Alison Martin, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said:
“We are delighted to be able to confirm the return of the pantomime, the city’s largest annual cultural event, and what is often each child’s first experience of live performance. I am sure the move to the Arena stage will make Aladdin our most spectacular pantomime yet.”
This year’s pantomime will allow you to discover the magical world of make-believe. You'll be able to follow Aladdin on his quest for hidden treasure as he tries to win the heart of the beautiful Princess Jasmine. The pantomime will have all of your favourite pantomime characters, including the Genie of the Lamp, the Slave of the Ring, evil sorcerer Uncle Abanazer, Aladdin’s no-good brother Wishee Washee, and the ultimate pantomime dame, the eccentric Widow Twankey. Will the Genie make all their wishes come true? Come and find out for yourself. This year’s pantomime is going to bring you and your family a lot of fun and laughter. It is suitable for families, including both the youngest and oldest ones.
Aladdin'll be on stage from Monday 7 December until Sunday 3 January 2015, with tickets prices from £10. There are concessions, group, school and family tickets available. The tickets are already on sale so don’t miss out – it is never too early to book for this fantastic Christmas treat. Call the Derby LIVE box office on 01332255800, buy your tickets online or book in person at the Assembly Rooms, Market Place, Derby.
