Monthly Gym challenge

Every month we like to challenge our gym-goers with an exciting gym challenge. We vary the focus of the challenge and have our friendly and knowledgable wellbeing advisors on hand to help you with a programme so you can beat your personal best each month.

March: 1km Rowing Race

This month we are looking for the fastest rower to row 1km! Set your monitor to 'Distance 1000m' on a Concept II rowing machine to enable distance countdown and an exact completion time. Then speak to a staff member to verify and record your time.

You can attempt this challenge as many times as you'd like. Good luck!

February: The Ramp Test

We invite you to complete a sub-maximal Ramp Test on any Wattbike for this month's challenge. Your results in watts will be entered onto our leaderboard and will provide an excellent gauge of your cardiovascular fitness. This is particularly great for cyclists, and gives you power outputs to train towards after testing!

If you would like to get involved, simply select the pre-set test on any Wattbike to give it a go. Your results will be recorded automatically, but you can always ask for help from a Wellbeing Adviser.

January: The Great Calorie Burn-Off

Join us in a collective effort to burn 3million calories between everybody at Derby Arena! This is open to everybody and we will be recording the calories burnt by all, so make sure you contribute.

Using any piece of cardio equipment in the gym, log your exercise through MyWellness to contribute your calorie burn to the group  effort. You can also speak to a member of the wellness team to record your individual burn off.
