Derby Arena fast track accreditation

Fast Track accreditation is suitable for riders who have experience of track cycling and are looking for an intensive course to gain the skills needed to gain full accreditation.

The course will be held over one day and broken down into two blocks of rotating riders on track. The course is priced at £150 and includes bike, shoe, helmet (if required) and light refreshments throughout the day.

We are now offering youth fast track accreditation courses for £60

What do I need to be able to do the fast track accreditation session?

Prior to admission onto the adult course you must:

  • complete Stage 1 at either Derby or any indoor track (proof must be provided prior to booking)
  • complete a club session at an indoor track and have club coaches consent to participate (proof must be provided prior to booking)
  • be able to maintain a hard tempo of cycling for 60+ mins and can ride for multiple hours
  • be a competent club cyclist who has ridden in a controlled bunch environment with chain gang, sprinting skills.

Prior to admission onto the youth course you must:

  • complete a club session or 2 hours track time with Cycle Derby via the track day (proof will be required prior to booking)
  • be able to maintain a hard tempo of cycling for 60+ minutes and ride for multiple hours
  • be a competent club cyclist who has ridden in a controlled bunch environment with chain gang, sprinting skills.

The course is not a guarantee to gain full accreditation. This will be based on the riding competencies demonstrated on the day.

When are the fast track accreditations sessions going to take place?

Dates of fast track accreditation course are:

  • Saturday 23 September at 9am - 2pm 

What skills will you learn?

Each group will progress through the stages of accreditation with a view to each rider and by the end be able to demonstrating the below skills:

  • Setting own saddle height correctly
  • Display consistent and effective observation and communication at all times including entering and exiting the track safely and looking through to two riders ahead
  • Effectively control speed to manage space between each other without 'kicking back' or overlapping wheels
  • Not increasing or decreasing the speed of the line of riders when on the front
  • Riding whole laps at the top of the track
  • Holding a good line and not drifting down on banking's
  • Good control of the bike
  • Looking over both shoulders when changing on the front of the line
  • Following a wheel closely and consistently
  • Square dance (chain gang)
  • Changing in pairs
  • Taking flying half laps on black line holding a consistent line
  • Performing lumps and bumps using the dynamics of the track
  • Complete Mock Scratch race.
