Kelly-Jayne's Journey

KELL, BELL, AND BIKES - TRACK?

So, my track journey has officially begun. Ive had my tour of the velodrome, got an idea of the accreditations I’ll be going through and attended my first ever Track event, the National omnium championships, learnt what omnium meant and what an experience it was. Accreditations, as I understand are a pathway through to being able to ride the track.

KELL, BELL, AND BIKES - ACCREDITATION #1

It happened! I signed up for accreditation 1, which is also advertised as an ‘introduction into track’ and a ‘taster session’ – that sounds less serious right? So I told myself I was going for a ‘taster session’.

KELL, BELL, AND BIKES - ACCREDITATION #2

After stage 1 success I was ready and raring to go into Stage 2 (kind of). I’m not going to lie, the nerves were still very present but reminding myself that once I was on the track they do disappear was helpful! In between waiting for stage 2, and to get in some more track time I went along to a women’s novice session.

KELL, BELL, AND BIKES - ACCREDITATION #3

So I’m well and truly on my Accreditation pathway, having completed my stage 1 and 2, it was time for Stage 3! In-between these stages I’d joined another women’s novice session to get some more track time which I found really beneficial, however the normal nerves were very much present. This session is 2 hours long, so maybe grab a bigger breakfast to fuel you for the whole event. I had my porridge so I was feeling pretty strong.
