Livewell proud to work with the One You campaign

Fri 8 Apr 2016

Public Health England are a month into their One You campaign, aimed at middle aged adults to make changes to their daily lifestyle with the vision of avoiding future diseases and complications that are caused by modern day lifestyles.

Derby City Council are proud to be working alongside this campaign with Livewell, the service offered to Derby residents to make healthier choices.

Research found that:

  • around 40% of all deaths in England are related to daily lifestyle choices
  • the NHS spends more than £11bn a year on treating illnesses caused by the effects of diet, inactivity, smoking and drinking alcohol
  • Public Health England launches One You, the first ever nationwide campaign to address preventable disease in adults

Small factors such as over consuming unhealthy food, drinking more than is recommended, smoking habits and lack of physical activity are responsible for these statistics.

Adults are encouraged to take the How Are You Quiz, issued by Public Health England and the NHS, to measure behaviour and see which lifestyle factors need to improve.

Livewell is the local service provider to help you make the relevant changes. For more information, please visit the Livewell website, email our friendly team at livewell@derby.gov.uk or call 01332 641254.
