About the event

The 2015/16 Revolution Series will begin with a special extended event at the Derby Arena.

The Revolution Series is the UK's leading international track cycling competition and will be the first major cycling event to be hosted in the newly developed multi-purpose Derby Arena and will be an important opportunity for Team GB riders to gain UCI qualification points ahead of the next Olympics in Rio 2016. Riders need 90 UCI track ranking points by September to qualify to race. The World Cups British Cycling and endurance Head Coach Heiko Salzwedel confirmed the importance of the Derby event, “We’ll be using Derby as an important opportunity to score qualification points ahead of the UCI deadline so we are pleased to be able to do this in the UK.”

The racing will feature the UKs leading male and female cycling stars and will take place across four sessions. Schedule and race highlights will include:

Session 1: Fri 14 Aug, 19:00 until approx 22:00 – Team Pursuit, Keirin *doors will open at 6pm

Session 2: Sat 15 Aug, 11:15 until approx 17:15 – Omnium (Men and Women) *doors will open at 11am

Session 3: Sat 15 Aug, 19:00 until approx 22:00 – Omnium, Individual Pursuit, Revolution Longest Lap *doors will open at 6pm

Session 4: Sun 16 Aug, 12:00 until approx 16:30 – Omnium, Sprint Finals, Madison *doors will open at 11am

Car parking 

Parking at the Arena will be £5 per car.

PLEASE NOTE for session 2 on Saturday afternoon parking will extremely limited at the Arena due to a DCFC football match taking place at the iPro Stadium next to the Arena. Alternative parking will be available at Alvaston Park (DE24 8QQ), which is a 15 minute walk to the Arena. This parking is available for £3.50 per car. 

PLEASE NOTE for session 3, parking will not be available at the Derby Arena until 5:45pm, due to the DCFC football match taking place at the iPro Stadium next door, please also be aware that there will be traffic congestion in and around Derby Arena from 4.45 to 5.30pm.

There is limited disabled parking at the Arena (subject to availability) which is due to the high number of people attending the Revolution Series and the Derby County home game taking place at the iPro Stadium. 

There is a high barrier of 70 inches at the entrance to the car park.

Revolution

Created in 2003 by FACE Partnership and the National Cycling Centre in Manchester, the Revolution Series is now established as the leading elite track cycling league in the world.

The Series has two simple aims: to provide a competitive environment for Britain’s most talented track cyclists, and to provide fans with thrilling, world-class cycling entertainment. Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish MBE, Victoria Pendleton CBE, Laura Trott OBE and Marianne Vos are some of the world famous names to have ridden at the Revolution Series in the past.

Revolution Series is a UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) event, with points available for riders to qualify for the UCI World Cup and World Track Championships.

Concession tickets available on this event for over 65.

Floor Standing tickets are priced lower than Upper Tier seats as the track centre is sunken 3m below the track creating a slightly restricted view. There will be plenty of things to enhance the track centre experience with spectators able to get close to the riders for autographs and food, drink and expo stands in the area.
