Do more for less with our new Leisure Card

Thu 2 Oct 2014

We introduced our new Leisure card on 1 October 2014. The Leisure Card provides discounted prices for the use of Derby City Council leisure facilities, including Derby Arena when it opens early in 2015.

As part of the new offer Derby residents will be entitled to a 20% discounts towards leisure facilities, whilst non-Derby residents will be entitled to a 10% discount. This new provision will make the leisure facilities easily accessible for people living, working and visiting Derby. Derby residents eligible for a concessionary leisure Card will now be able to access a discount of 40%. To further encourage the older generation to stay active, there is now a new over 75s saver card introduced. This will give the customers access to the gym, swimming and group exercise classes for as little as £1 per session, available Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and all weekend.

The Leisure Cards have an annual cost of:

  • Adult - £5
  • Under 16s - £2.50
  • Family (two adults & and two under 16s) - £14
  • Concessionary – FREE until March 2014, then £2.50
  • Over 75s – FREE until 31 March 2014, then £2.50

The Recreation Leisure Card will continue to provide free activity for Derby residents who are claiming certain benefits, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and all weekend. The recreation Leisure Card will require renewing every six months, at a cost of £2.50.

Councillor Alison Martin, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said:

“This is another example of this Labour administration’s commitment to making sport activities in Derby both more interesting and accessible. The introduction of our new leisure Card will provide the opportunity for Derby people to take part in activity at an affordable cost at all our leisure centres and also at one of the most stunning sporting venues in the country.”
